Here’s When The Harley Quinn Skin Comes To ‘Fortnite’, With Challenges

There are really a fair number of superheroes in Fortnite at this point. We started out with Star Lord and Black Widow, followed it up with Batman and now we’re getting Harley Quinnâ€"not really a traditional superhero, but still. And maybe Jedi are superheroes too? The argument is there. Regardless, we’ve known about the possibility of a Harley Quinn skin in Fortnite for a while, but now it’s officially coming to the item shop. Let’s take a look:

The Harley Quinn skin will arrive in the Fortnite item shop tonight, February 6:00, at 7:00 PM Eastern. It will stick around until February 17.

So it’s not quite the same as something like the John Wick skin, which was a straight re-creation of Keanu Reeves from the movie. This is the character Harley Quinn, but it’s not quite Margot Robbie’s likeness. It’s similar to what we saw with Black Widow’s “not quite Scarlet Johannsen” look. Still, it’s a good skin, and sure to see some good revenue, particularly with Birds of Prey shaping up to be a critical success that bucks some of the conventions of the female-led comic movie.

Harley will have an unlockable style, listed above, with some very straightforward challenges for the unlock:

  • Place top 30 in Solo, Duos, or Squads, then top 20, then top 10.
  • Hit weak points.
  • Deal damage using Pickaxes.
  • And that’s about the size of the event. I don’t think I ever expected much more than a skin from this: we’ve seen much larger events with Batman, Star Wars, Borderlands and more, but this was never going to get the same treatment as something on the scale of Star Wars. It’s closer to Stranger Things, which got some skins but not much beyond that. I suppose the smallest “cross-promotion” we’ve seen was for It, which was just some unofficial red balloons over sewer grates.

Oddly enough, this is not Harley’s first appearance in a battle royale game. She also showed up alongside the Joker in PUBG, though people weren’t huge fans of how she was translated through that game’s more realistic aesthetic. The cartoony world of Fortnite is a much better fit, overall.
