'Fortnite' X Batman Event Leaked With Gotham City Challenges, Skins & Batarang

Fortnite gets some Batman Day flavor this week with the leak of a Fortnite X Batman Collaboration in honor of the iconic superhero's 80th anniversary. The event features skins, Welcome to Gotham City Challenges and more.

New Items - Batman Grapnel Gun & Explosive Batarang

To kick of the festivities, Epic will introduce two new items to Battle Royale that could change the way the game is played. The item descriptions for the Batman Grapnel Gun and Explosive Batarang can be found below.

Batman Grapnel Gun – Pull yourself towards a target location and then deploy the Bat Cape!

Explosive Batarang – Batman's Batarang. Homes in on players and sticks to walls. Explodes if it detects enemies in proximity

So, players can use the Grapnel Gun to increase verticality across the map then take advantage of the Batarang as a sticky grenade that harms enemies from a distance. As with any weapon roster change, though, we just hope one of them doesn't totally break the game.

Welcome to Gotham City Challenges

Given that Fortnite will soon feature two Batman-themed weapons, it'd make sense to offer some challenges that make use of them. For that we have the Welcome to Gotham City Challenges. Tilted Town has since transformed into Gotham City, and these special tasks encourage players to explore the space. Do so well enough, and you'll walk away with free cosmetic rewards. Complete all challenges to unlock the reward

Complete four challenges to unlock the reward

Deal damage to opponents with an explosive Batarang (250)

Light up different Bat Signals outside Gotham City (three)

Use a Batman Grapnel Gun in different matches (three)

Diffuse Joker Gas Canisters found in different named locations (three)

Deal damage to opponents within 30 seconds of using a Batman Grapnel Gun (one)

Light a Bat Signal, use a Batman Grapnel Gun and deal any damage with an Explosive Batarang (one)

The rewards for each of these challenges appear to include a Batman-themed Glider, skin Banner and Spray. We'll update this article with additional info as we learn more. That's all we know about the Fortnite X Batman event for now.

Fortnite is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC and mobile. There is no word on when the Fortnite X Batman event will begin, but it's believed to be soon. Batman Day is September 21.
