‘Fortnite’: Here Are All The ‘Meteoric Rise’ Challenges To Unlock ‘The Scientist’ Skin

The Scientist skin in Fortnite.

This isn’t the season-long challenge skin, apparently, though it’s certainly cool-looking enough to serve as one. But The Visitor is returning to the world of Fortnite: Battle Royale, and he’s looking way beefier than before. Now he’s called “The Scientist”, and he has some menacing-looking battle armor to go with the same red-lighted visor he had when he showed up the first time.

“His mission is unknown”, reads the in-game text. “One of the seven.” Mysterious!

You unlock this skin through its own mission set called “A meteoric rise”. Like other missions this season, you unlock these by completing other objectives in the list, but thanks to dataminers we already know what all these missions will be. They’re all themed around rifts, which is appropriate considering the Visitor opened the first one with the rocket to begin with. Here’s the full list, courtesy of Lucas7Yoshi:

Destroy structures with Junk Rifts (10)

Visit different Rift Zones in the same match (3)

Eliminate opponents in Rift Zones (7)

Search chests or ammo boxes in Rift Zones (20)

Land in a Rift Zone and place Top 10 in Solo, Duos, or Squads (1)

Consume Glitched Foraged items with different effects (4)

Touch a giant glowing cube, enter the Rift above Loot Lake, and search a landing pod within a meteor (3)

I wonder if these “mystery skins” are going to be a permanent feature of the game going forward, joning the battle pass skin and season-long challenge skin as another way to add limited time rewards to the game. I’d be down for that, especially if they’re all as cool as this.

The role the Visitor-turned-Scientist has to play remains unclear, but he certainly shook things up the first time he arrived, launching the rocket that opened the rift and kicked off the insane chain reaction of events that in some way, shape or form led to every other aspect of Fortnite’s absurdist plot. Does he have a similar role to play this time around? We’ve thought it might happen before, but I think there’s still room for one massive rift that’s going to consume the whole map and make way for something new. We’ll see.
